REEPRODUCE M42 Consortium Meeting Marks a Key Technological Milestone in Kristiansand

The REEPRODUCE consortium and its External Advisory Board met last October 22, 2025, in Kristiansand, Norway, for a visit to REEPRODUCE High-Temperature Electrolysis (HTE) pilot installed at ELKEM premises โ€” a major technological milestone for the project.

During the visit, partners had the chance to witness first hand how the HTE cell operates, featuring an automated control system designed for efficient performance. The pilot integrates advanced components that allow for precise temperature management, optimized energy use, and stable production conditions โ€” all key to achieving high-quality REMA (Rare Earth Magnetic Alloy) suitable for permanent magnet manufacturing.

The visit showcased how innovation and engineering excellence are converging to bring circular rare earth production closer to reality in Europe. Over the coming months, the HTE unit will begin producing rare earth alloy material for testing and validation, marking a crucial step toward establishing a European supply chain for sustainable magnet materials.

This achievement reflects the strong collaboration and technical expertise within the REEPRODUCE consortium, demonstrating how European innovation can drive progress toward a cleaner and more resilient industrial future.
