Main tasks and responsibilities in the project: To develop dismantling processes to extract the max. number of components with Nd-based PMs. Specifically, CEIT will use technologies like robotics, artificial vision, deep learning and reinforcement learning to develop a pilot (TRL7) for the automated dismantling of HDDs in order to extract components (e.g., arm of the writing head and spindle rotor) bearing Nd-based PMs. Besides, CEIT will also develop another pilot (TRL7) to extract electric motors (cont. Nd-based PMs) for new incoming WEEE such as personal/portable electric mobility, robot vacuums, etc.
